The Cotswolds – Timeless Beauty in England’s Heartland

A central stretch of England that spans 65 miles or so of rolling picturesque rural landscapes, quintessential fairy tale cottage villages, classic old English market towns as well as historic farmsteads that date back to the Roman era. Medieval England at it's finest
The Cotswolds AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) holds the prize for most quaint, thatched villages in England. Every hamlet, every village and town you pass through has numerous postcard moments of honey stone buildings, shingle or thatched roofing, narrow alley like streets and that all important ancient central church which have been at the heart of most communities for hundreds of years.
Classic locations such as Bibury and the old weavers cottages at Arlington Row, Burford's market street shops with unique traders selling quality wares from the region, Chipping Campden with its absolutely dreamy detached thatched cottages that seem to fairy tale to be true, popular places such as Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water serve up fantastic market fare and have a great ancient inn or two hiding in their many winding streets and up high at Broadway Tower where you can take in several counties from one view point at the old Folly Tower. Alternatively, you are in Shakespeare country and his namesake Royal Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon is near by, as is Gloucester with its majestic cathedral , Cirencester's colourful market square and the grand Georgian city of Bath which has the UKs only hot spring to which drew Roman interest. Each with their own individual charm and interest.
The regions honey coloured stone buildings and the homely, wholesome feel is a key draw for visitors. Each village has an individual charm and interest. Some are architecturally unique with mill houses on shallow chalk bed rivers where trout tease fly fisherman, others are statement wealth of the original wool trade that built the region up to the heights it remains at even today.
There are endless locations to list, visit and see.
A day or two here is recommended to try to appreciate the beauty of the region and to allow for an immersive experience whilst visiting.
Cotswold Experience Tours can feature as part of a multi day logistical route either at the start or end of your trip.
Quite often my guests will want a few days in the area before heading back to London or an international airport.
The tour can also feature as a stand alone visit. With so much to see and places to visit it never fails to deliver and wow people from all over the world.
Cotswolds Experience Tours can start from you accommodation or, as part of a transfer to the region with a hotel stay whilst in the area. Please see the "Where To Stay" page for recommended hotels whilst planning your trip.
