Visitors to the region are spoilt by the abundance of quality food and drink that is on offer throughout the South West.
It is no secret that us locals are very appreciative of the farm produce, beef and dairy, as well as the bounty grown from our fertile soils, not to mention the daily catch fresh from the coastline and waters around the peninsula. The choice and selection is vast, quality is fantastic and the area has some of the country's most renowned chefs base themselves here to utilise this endless bounty.
So it makes perfect sense to offer a tour that truly celebrates this delicious produce should be available to visiting guests.
ESW Tours has had the arduous task of trialing, tasting and sampling the delights of the West in order to gauge market research and design a tour that is fully customisable to your tastes, literally.
The tour itself can include visits to a variety of local producers as well as food and drink related experiences choices.
A tour can be made up of a collection of the following tasting and experience opportunities, most with additional cost. All subject to seasonal availability and at times, minimum group participation numbers.

- Guided wine and cheese tasting at award winning, and beautifully located, Sandridge Barton Vineyard.
- Tour and tasting or maybe even a gin making experience at the award winning and waterfront located Salcombe Gin, or alternatively,
- Visit to Plymouth Gin Distillery, where we can partake in a guided tour and tasting session at the distillery that was once the Monastery where the Pilgrim Fathers sheltered on their last night in the UK.
- Tour of Hunt’s Cider Farm in Ipplepen, a family of cider makers that dates back nearly 200yrs. A personal favourite with links.
- One of the newest and eagerly awaited producers offers a guided tasting experience at Dartmoor Whisky Distillery in Bovey Tracy.
- Indulge in the regions best afternoon treat, a traditional cream tea, served the Devon way of course, available in quaint tea rooms tucked away in fairy tale thatched villages.
- Opportunity to partake in a private river cruise onboard the fizz boat where a platter of local seafood or farm produce can accompany local sparkling wine or champagne if your tastes dictate.
- Various local food market days where farmers sell the freshest ingredients, fruit'n'veg and breads for those who may be tempted to create the picnic lunch on the open moor.
Further afield into Cornwall, the fantastic Knightor Vineyard on the hills above the infamous Eden project offers guided tasting of their local wines as does Polgoon Vineyard on the outskirts of Penzance. Both wine makers producing award winning bins that rival the classics from France and around the world.
Another rather unique opportunity is to partake in a little "do it yourself" with a cider and sloe gin making workshop experience at Bovey Castle on Dartmoor. A traditional old barn, hand turned apple press and gin infusions to inspire, all by candle light.
