The close of the 2025 season was delayed and prolonged by several late tours, even into late December, which is not unheard of but a refreshing and reassuring way to end the year. International travelers were still here in late 2025 and freely enjoying the empty regions we covered and explored.
In previous tour seasons I am pretty much wound up and closed from early November onward until enquiries and tour bookings begin again in early Spring time. In the light of global events, political unease and the affect all this has on international visitation, not just UK inbound, but also across Europe as well as the wider Mediterranean vacation hot spots, it does promote a sense of uncertainty in relation to booking enquiries and confidence in the world travel market. I have decided to write and compile a points list of reassuring data to present to interested UK inbound travelers and offer this as free advice from someone in the industry with a over a decade of experience. Working closely with key organisations including Visit Devon, Visit Cornwall and Visit Britain, I have a broad understanding of international interest in the areas and regions in which I provide tours and adventure as well as working alongside other guides, sharing intel and referring to each other when and where possible. We all sing from the same hymn book and wish for our international inbound travelers to have the best possible experience whilst visiting our beautiful country. The UK has long been one of the Worlds favourite travel destinations, attracting millions of visitors with its broad history, regional culture and stunning landscapes, especially here in the South West of England. As travel restrictions have lifted post pandemic era and also with the lessons learned and subsequent adjustments incorporating the new ETAs for the UK and similar for the EU also, travel has never been safer. Below are key features and points to consider to reassure US and International travel to the UK, Strong Health and Safety Protocols : As mentioned, lessons learned and clearer public health guidelines have reinforced cleanliness and hygiene standards across the industry, from hotel rooms, kitchen hygiene, public transport as well as attractions - some of which adopted a booking system whereby numbers on site are now managed to promote a more free moving and less crowded feel. Our NHS (National Health Service) boasts one of the nest healthcare provisions for overseas visitors with access to emergency care and medical treatment should it be required without the worrying costs of basic care involved in private healthcare fees in the likes of the US. Alongside this strong healthcare is the UK's ethos of strong travel insurance options. When travelling to the UK it is always advised by vacation and travel agents to have robust travel insurance. It will always stand you in good favour should any emergency occur. The UK currently operates a simple visa and ETA entry system with a variety of visa options to suit all inbound travel needs and requirements. The UK government has made it easier than ever to apply for travel documentation on the gov.uk website. ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) is an online process that takes minutes to complete and is inexpensive also. Clear customs and immigration procedures at airports and cruise terminals are organised and simplified to speed up arrival and your onward arrival logistics. One thing my guests are always impressed by is the public transportation systems and just how accessible they are to all, especially in cities such as London. Wider access, priority seating and ramp access where required to accommodate those travelers with wheelchairs or disability needs. One thing we Brits pride ourselves on is our welcome and friendliness. This, I feel is one of the most important features and factors to mention. With political tensions and uneasiness with international relations, concerns of oppositional or confrontational behaviour has been a topic asked about in enquiry emails, which lays heavy and saddens me to think that international guests are considering this as a travel obstruction or something that will affect their overall experience. British people are known for their politeness, hospitality and generosity extended to international travel folk. This welcoming atmosphere is part of what makes the UK such a popular destination for the wider international audience. Whether its the need for directions, advice on local attractions, navigating public transport or even understanding local culture, we Brits are always there to offer a helping hand. Here in Devon and Cornwall locals love to chat and hear about where you're from, what it is like and how it compares. Some of our rural folk may have never left the country so to them international travel types are quite the jet setters and they are intrigued by the regional draw. Traveling to the UK in 2026 will continue to be a seamless and welcoming experience thanks to our countries world class infrastructure, warm hospitality, regional history and culture. Everywhere I have taken my guests, whether they are from the USA, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand and beyond, local people love to talk and here your tales as well as how and why you have chosen to visit this part of the country, (I do champion the rural and quieter locations that do not tend to see greater tourism numbers!) So, whether it is the bustle of London town, the wind swept Tors of Dartmoor National Park, the sweeping beaches of Cornwall's, dramatic ancient strata of Dorset's Jurassic coast or countryside village charms of rural Devon, we here in the UK are ready to see you all in and throughout 2026 so pack your bags, adventure awaits! Get in touch to discuss your travel plans and we can assist in your itinerary, logistics to and from airports as well as accommodation recommendations.
